Put On and Wear…

Each new day, we have an opportunity to put on and wear salvation with righteousness, our new selves, love, and His armor. Our Maker has strategically given us these blessings to enhance our lives.

To put on is to actively place something upon our beings. To wear an item is to be dressed in something.

When we actively opt to put on salvation with righteousness, our new selves, love, and His armor, we are consciously choosing to display and to feel His amazing goodness. Striving each day to put on and wear these gifts will tremendously impact our lives and the lives of others for the greater good.

“Let me tell you how happy God has made me! For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and draped about me the robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels.” Isaiah 61:10 (TLB)

His salvation and righteousness we are clothed and draped in. He provides us salvation so that we can be covered with His righteousness.

Because of Jesus, we are saved! Because of Jesus, we are made whole and righteous! Each day, no matter what we have done, we are able to wear and envelop in His saving grace, which leads to putting on our new selves.

Then you know to take off your former way of life, your crumpled old self—that dark blot of a soul corrupted by deceitful desire and lust—to take a fresh breath and to let God renew your attitude and spirit. Then you are ready to put on your new self, modeled after the very likeness of God: truthful, righteous, and holy. Ephesians 4:22-24 (VOICE)

Each morning we have a new self to put on and wear that God is always working on. As we take a fresh breath, He breathes new life into us. He is forming our attitudes to be more like His. He is reviving our spirits to be a vibrant being as He is. God is actively and continually restoring, replenishing, and reviving us. Each day He begins anew. He is replacing our old self with a transformed rejuvenated self more like Him.

And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Colossians 3:14 (MSG) “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.” (NLT)

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance…Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 & 13 (NLT)

Putting on and wearing love is dynamic. To put on His love is to behave in a manner that displays the qualities of love – patience, kindness, humility, unselfishness, truthful, faithful, enduring, and hopeful. Wearing His love adorns us. We are able to embrace, acknowledge, and accept His love for each one of us so that we may love others.

In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [draw your strength from Him and be empowered through your union with Him] and in the power of His [boundless] might. Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11 (AMP)

To put on and to wear His armor daily, not only protects us, but also enhances our beings. His full armor entails truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and His Word.

Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:14-17 (NLT)

Wearing His armor is essentially putting on love while our new selves are being formed with God’s love.

Thank you dear Heavenly Father for providing such wonderful guidelines to make our earthly lives more heavenly. Thank you for clothing us in your goodness – salvation, righteousness, love, and armor. Thank you for showing us how to put on and wear You! Amen.

Entirely Surrounded

“…God is not alone in maintaining and protecting His creation and His people.  He has made a host of heavenly messengers ready to do His bidding, and His bidding is often to guard His people throughout their lives and protect them…” Psalm 91 excerpt (VOICE)

He who takes refuge in the shelter of the Most High will be safe in the shadow of the Almighty.  He will say to the Eternal, ‘My shelter, my mighty fortress, my God, I place all my trust in You.’…Like a bird protecting its young, God will cover you with His feathers, will protect you under His great wings; His faithfulness will form a shield around you, a rock-solid wall to protect you…He will command His heavenly messengers to guard you, to keep you safe in every way…He will call on Me, and I will answer.  I’ll be with him through hard times… Psalm 91:1-2, 4, 11 & 15 (VOICE)

To be covered by His feathers is soft and gentle.  To take refuge under His wings is powerful.  Feathers are fluffy and smooth which provide warmth.  The feathers as a whole, the wings, are powerful and protect us from wind, rain, and storms, as an eagle does with her young. Wings shield us from harm.

We must trust Him.  We must choose to act to turn to His Word when in doubt.  We must choose to have faith and trust in Him.  When we act in this manner, when we know we are entirely surrounded, we are overwhelmed with His peace, comfort, and strength.  When we are lacking in hope and faith, we must turn to His Word, turn to Him and ask Him to help us and He will fill us with hope, strength, courage, and faith.  We then know in our hearts, minds, and souls, without any doubts, that we are surrounded and can go throughout our days with peace and joy.

“God offers to make us chock full of both joy and peace…How? Through faith. Faith allows us to choose to bury all doubt and accept all hope.” God’s Triple Filling, Margaret Michel, Sept. 30, 2019, Inspirational Devotion, Romans 15:13.

“Every word of God has been proven true.  He is a safe-covering to those who trust in Him.” Prov. 30:5 (NLV)

If you have made Jesus the Lord of your life, you are surrounded by the love of the Father; you are surrounded by the Son Jesus, you are surrounded by God’s Holy Spirit and by His entire angelic army!  You are completely and entirely surrounded and covered under the shadow of His mighty wings!  Never mind what it feels like, the truth is God is surrounding you at all sides. Daughters of the King Daily Devotionals, God has you surrounded!, September 8, 2019.

It is important we seek God’s truth no matter what we feel.  His Word, His truth, trumps any feeling or circumstances we may see.  We must seek His Word daily because then we continue to grow in knowledge, experience, and a deeper awareness of His continual presence in our lives.  When we choose to simply act on going to His Word, our heart and mind follow and we believe, have hope and faith which then removes any doubt, fear, or unbelief we may have.  When we trust that God goes before us and wins each day, then we are encouraged and strengthened.  We know He is here now, all day, He is already in tomorrow, and has been with us all our yesterdays!

“We aren’t the source of the power to overcome our challenges.  God is our greater power source that brings the true power,” Kevin Davis, Behind the Song.

“The love of God enfolds me.  The Light of God surrounds me.  The Power of God protects me.  The Presence of God watches over me.  Wherever I am, God is.” Jesus.OurShalomPeace@Facebook.com

“My being safe and my honor rest with God.  My safe place is in God, the rock of my strength.” Psalm 62:7 (NLV)

Dear Heavenly Father,

“Keep close watch over me as the apple of Your eye; shelter me in the shadow of Your wings.” Psalm 17:8 (VOICE)

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious and merciful to me, for my soul finds shelter and safety in You, and in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge and be confidently secure until destruction passes. Psalm 57:1 (AMP)

Thank you Lord for entirely surrounding us with your love, compassion, grace, mercy, protection, comfort, peace, and joy.  Amen.

In Him, We are Safe and Secure – War Room for Peace and Protection

In Him, we are safe and secure.  In Him, we have peace and protection.

There is so much uncertainty and many occasions to worry and be fearful going on here on earth.  However, as Believers, brothers and sisters in Christ, we have the best opportunity to succumb these worries and fears and receive the peace and courage of our Savior.  When we look to God in the midst of storms, chaos, and uncertainty, we renew our mind, we calm our fleshly anxiety, and we are given God’s strength, peace, wisdom, and protection.

Here on earth, we are still in our fleshly bodies.  However, as sons and daughters of the King, we have our spirit bodies that are within us.  At times of stressful occasions, our heartbeat may increase, we may feel fear and that is okay, but what we do with that feeling will determine how we manage to get through a storm – we can choose to feed the anxiety and unhealthy fleshly thoughts or choose to live in the spirit with courage, determination to renew our minds, our hearts, and experience life, joy, and praise through disarray.  Each time we are given this opportunity, our faith builds and we are reminded of each faithful time God got us through a scary situation, unharmed.  Each time, we are reminded to seek God, to read His Word, His promises, we learn of His consistency in helping us, growing us, and teaching us in each opportunity.

When faced with a hurricane, uncertainty in your marriage, raising children, wildfires, loss of a loved one or a job, whatever type of predicament we are in, we can choose to look at it as an opportunity to focus our eyes, trust, hope, and hearts on our Father and look at each circumstance for God to comfort us, shield us, and fight on our behalf.  As opposed to looking at trying situations fearfully or dreadfully, commit to Him, His Word, and give Him our anxieties, our worries, and talk with Him and share with Him what we are afraid of and let Him take care of us.  As long as we choose to go to Him during these times, He will show His presence and He will comfort us and He will give us His supernatural peace that is indescribable and unexplainable, which makes it awesome and amazing.

There are three things we can do when faced with a challenging, trivial situation to be in His safety, security, peace, and protection:  (1)  turn to God’s promises in the Bible and meditate on them; (2)  sing praises to our Father and worship Him; and (3)  pray, talk with Him.

God’s Promises

The following verses are a compilation of His promises to read, to meditate on, to believe, and to have hope in whenever we are faced with a situation here on earth that we may not want to go through, but will grow and learn tremendously while depending on our Father.  These verses will speak peace, hope, confidence, and trust to our hearts and minds.  These Words from our Father are just for us so that we may overcome our fleshly fears, worries, and anxieties and be filled with something way better – peace, hope, and joy.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. 2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)

“God is our safe place and our strength.  He is always our help when we are in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 (NLV)  God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. (NLT)

Don’t panic.  I’m with you.  There’s no need to fear for I’m your God.  I’ll give you strength.  I’ll help you.  I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you. Isaiah 41: 10 (MSG)

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious and merciful to me, for my soul finds shelter and safety in You, and in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge and be confidently secure until destruction passes by. Psalm 57:1 (AMP)  “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy!  I look to you for protection.  I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.” (NLT)  “Be good to me, God-and now!  I’ve run to you for dear life.  I’m hiding out under your wings until the hurricane blows over.” (MSG)

“You are my refuge and my shield, and your promises are my only source of hope.” Psalm 119:114 (TLB)  “You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope” (NLT)

What a God he is!  How perfect in every way!  All his promises prove true.  He is a shield for everyone who hides behind him. Psalm 18:30 (TLB)  “…He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.” (NLT)

“In peace [and with a tranquil heart] I will both lie down and sleep, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety and confident trust.” Psalm 4:8 (AMP)  Tonight I will sleep securely on a bed of peace because I trust You, You alone, O Eternal One, will keep me safe. (VOICE)

“…He is a shield to those who trust and take refuge in Him.” Prov. 30:5 (AMP)  Every word of God proves true.  He defends all who come to him for protection. (TLB)  “…He is a safe-covering to those who trust in Him.” (NLV)

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you [setting you on a firm foundation] and will protect and guard you from the evil one.” 2 Thess. 3:3 (AMP)

“So be strong and courageous!  Do not be afraid and do not panic before them.  For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you.  He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deut. 31:6 (NLT)

“Cling to wisdom-she will protect you.  Love her-she will guard you. Prov. 4:6 (TLB)

“But let all who put their trust in You be glad.  Let them sing with joy forever.  You make a covering for them, that all who love Your name may be glad in You. Psalm 5:11 (NLV)  But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever.  Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. (NLT)

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken.  We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happens as they do, but we don’t give up and quit.  We are hunted down, but God never abandons us.  We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. 2 Cor. 4:8-9 (TLB)

“He is my God, my rock, where I go to be safe.  He is my covering and the horn that saves me, my strong place where I go to be safe.  You save me from being hurt.” 2 Samuel 22:3 (NLV)

“For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble.  You surround me with songs of victory.” Psalm 32:7 (NLT)

“I know the Lord is always with me.  I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. ” Psalm 16:8 (NLT)

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous runs to it and is safe and set on high [far above evil].” Prov. 18:10 (AMP)  “The Lord is a strong fortress.  The godly run to him and are safe.” (TLB)

“God’s angel sets up a circle of protection around us while we pray.” Psalm 34:7 (MSG)

“I can be content in any and every situation through the Anointed One who is my power and strength.” Phil. 4:13 (VOICE)  I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose – I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace]. (AMP)

“The Lord is good, a safe place in times of trouble.  And He knows those who come to Him to be safe.” Nahum 1:7 (NLV)  The Eternal One is good, a safe shelter in times of trouble.  He cares for those who search for protection in Him. (VOICE)

When facing trials, the best place to be is in God’s presence.  An excellent way to draw near to Him is to sing praises to Him; let Him hear our voice.  The following are a few songs to sing, rejoice, and open your heart to Him and feel His embrace; feel is love, grace, tenderness overcome you and comfort you.  God knows His children do not like to go through uncertain situations in life, but when we learn to turn to Him and allow Him to direct us and help us, He will.  Let worshipping God turn our worries into peace and joy.

Praise and Worship Him

Prayer

In Him, we are safe, secure, peaceful, and protected.  In prayer, we draw near to Him.  We are in a relationship with our God; we are communicating with our Father.

Psalm 91 is a prayer for protection.  When there is potential danger, or we feel uneasy, or just want to reach out to God and feel Him and trust His protection, read aloud the following Psalm boldly and confidently:

Security of the One Who Trusts in the Lord:

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will remain secure and rest in the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no enemy can withstand].  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!”  For He will save you from the trap of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.  He will cover you and completely protect you with His pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and a wall.  You will not be afraid of the terror of night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction (sudden death) that lays waste at noon.  A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but danger will not come near you.  You will only [be a spectator as you] look on with your eyes and witness the [divine] repayment of the wicked [as you watch safely from the shelter of the Most High].  Because you have made the Lord, [who is] my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent.  For He will command His angels in regard to you, to protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service].  They will lift you up in their hands, so that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone.  You will tread upon the lion and cobra; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.  “Because he set his love on Me, therefore I will save him; I will set him [securely] on high, because he knows My name [he confidently trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never abandon him, no, never].  He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.  With a long life I will satisfy him and I will let him see My salvation.” (AMP)

“You’re safe not because of the absence of danger, but because of the presence of God,” Unknown.

“A God wise enough to create me and the world I live in is wise enough to watch out for me,” Philip Yancey.

If the Lord be with us, we have no cause of fear.  His eye is upon us, His arm over us, His ear open to our prayer – His grace sufficient, His promise unchangeable, John Newton.

“The safest place in all the world is in the will of God, and the safest protection in all the world is the name of God,” Warren Wiersbe.

Let us close with the following prayer from Daughters of the King Daily Devotionals, You Will Walk in Divine Protection, September 18, 2017:

Thank you Lord for your divine protection over me and every person in my life.  Thank you that you have given your angels charge over me to keep me everywhere I go.  Thank you that I am covered with the precious blood of Jesus.  Thank you that as I abide in you, you cover me under your wings.  You are my shield and you are my safety.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
