Living Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed

(Planting Seeds Part One – Living Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed)

“He answered, ‘Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 (AMP)

Living faith is alive, active, and being used. When we exercise our faith, we are keeping it existent. When our faith is not being put into action, it is dormant, disengaging us from the power of our God and His ability to grow and move things in our lives.

“Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that God will,” Unknown.

There is nothing impossible with living faith the size of a mustard seed. We all can have faith as small as a mustard seed. Any mountains we face, that we are led to, we will overcome with His strength and grace. Let us look at how big God is as opposed to how big our mountains are. Our Father is vast and limitless beyond all of our mountains put together!

Another powerful example Jesus shared of having faith the size of a mustard seed is found in Luke 17:6 (VOICE):

“Jesus (pointing to a nearby mulberry tree): It’s not like you need a huge amount of faith. If you just had faith the size of a single, tiny mustard seed, you could say to this huge tree, ‘Pull up your roots and replant yourself in the sea,’ and it would fly through the sky and do what you said. So even a little faith can accomplish the seemingly impossible.’”

So even a little faith can accomplish the seemingly impossible. Jesus encourages us to have faith the size of a mustard seed for incredible things to happen. He says, “It’s not like you need a huge amount of faith.” The slightest bit of faith in Him and His Father accomplishes the impossible! Whatever it is that seems impossible to us, is not out of the capability of our Father’s ability.

And He said, ‘Let the earth burst forth with every sort of grass and seed-bearing plant, and fruit trees with seeds inside the fruit, so that these seeds will produce the kinds of plants and fruits they came from.’ And so it was, and God was pleased. Genesis 1:11-12 (TLB)

Our world was formed by God’s command. It takes faith to believe this because the earth that we see was made by what we cannot see. We believe that Our Father is the Creator of all things. To believe this, to accept this concept, even when we do not completely understand it, we must have faith and it all starts with living faith the size of a mustard seed!

Things grow as a result of God’s power. His might creates beautiful trees, bushes, and flowers from a seed. When we come to God with our faith in the amount of a mustard seed and it comes from our heart, what amazing miraculous things He is able to do with that tiny seed. Our tiny seeds of faith will flourish when put into God’s hands! That little amount of faith will grow and grow and grow. The more tiny seeds of faith we put into our Father, the more He is able to do in our lives as well as so many others. It is amazing to see the power of God being released because of our living faith the size of a mustard seed!

Dear Mighty Powerful Limitless Creator,

Thank you for encouraging our faith. Thank you for teaching us that you can do so much with our tiny living seeds of faith. You are so amazing and wonderful to care, nurture, and nourish each one of us. Thank you for your patience each day while we learn more of You Father and embrace all the goodness You have in store for us. Please continue to give us courage to trust and have confidence in You, growing our living seeds of faith. Thank you. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
